Education and Experience
Triena graduated in 1999 from Ryerson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Worker (BSW) with a minor in Public Administration. Triena earned her Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) at York University in 2004 and was awarded the Gerry Erickson Book Prize for Best Research, for her research on “The Role of the Protection Worker in Recidivism in Child Welfare.”
Triena has served communities in the Greater Toronto Area since 1998 through her roles in policing, education, child welfare and family law. Triena has provided crisis response, ongoing counselling, consultation, and case management services to people during some of life’s darkest moments. Triena has testified in criminal and family law trials and has been invited to speak at a variety of conferences and trainings, primarily on matters related to risk of emotional harm to children in separation and divorce, trauma aware care and the application of therapeutic jurisprudence. Triena’s practice is continually evolving as she integrates Mindfulness, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Therapeutic Practices, DBT, CBT, ASIST, IFS, SFBT, Trauma Aware Care, ERP, Collaborative Law-Family Professional and other tools and trainings to support those she serves.
